Fieldwork for the District Census Handbook (DCHB) in Jammu and Kashmir has been completed, covering all villages and towns across the Union Territory, according to Director Census Amit Sharma. This exercise documented the availability of essential facilities and infrastructure.
The collected data is now undergoing scrutiny and validation by Charge Officers and the Directorate before being forwarded for publication. Preparations for the Population Enumeration exercise are also in full swing.
Training programmes for Census personnel are scheduled to run until January 2027, in preparation for the Population Enumeration, which will begin on January 25. The questionnaire will include approximately 40 questions, and citizens are advised to have their information ready.
Special arrangements are being made to ensure all segments of the population, including those in snowbound areas and the houseless, are counted accurately. Accurate census data is deemed essential for future development planning and resource allocation.
