Former Rajya Sabha member T.G. Venkatesh recently inspected the Indian Red Cross Society Blood Centre premises in the undivided Kurnool district. This site visit was conducted in anticipation of a proposed new building, which aims to provide dedicated medical facilities for Thalassaemia patients. Approximately 1,000 Thalassaemia patients in the region currently require mandatory quarterly blood tests and transfusions, and they frequently encounter difficulties due to existing insufficient medical infrastructure. The District Red Cross Society has initiated the project to construct this facility and has sought assistance from Mr. Venkatesh. Locating the new building on the same premises as the blood centre is intended to enhance patient convenience by consolidating access to essential blood tests and transfusions.
