Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi recently addressed the media concerning the Juvvaladinne fishing harbor project. The representatives sought to reassure the local fishing community regarding the establishment of a Sagar defence company within the harbor premises.

Mr. Reddy affirmed the NDA alliance government’s commitment to supporting fishermen and stated that the defence company’s presence would be advantageous to the community. He also asserted that no adverse impact would occur under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s administration. Ms. Prashanthi Reddy clarified that only 150 meters of the fishing harbor has been designated for the company, with the remaining area available for fishermen. She also highlighted a Central government subsidy offering 65% assistance to women for the purchase of fishing boats.

Both officials attributed reported concerns among fishermen to a “misinformation campaign” and “politicization” by the YSR Congress party, emphasizing that the project’s development should not be politicized.
