Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a football session in Gangtok, Sikkim, on Tuesday, April 28. This activity occurred during a two-day visit to the state, with PM Modi describing the session as “energising” on social media.
The football engagement took place a day after the Prime Minister concluded his election campaign for West Bengal, where his final rally was held in Barrackpore on Monday, April 27. The session in Sikkim coincided with a mandatory 48-hour silence period that had commenced for 142 constituencies in West Bengal’s final election phase.
Social media reactions to the Prime Minister’s football participation were diverse. Some users expressed positive sentiment, citing the unifying nature of football, while others used the platform to offer political commentary and critical observations related to the ongoing electoral context.
