Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma recently completed a practice session at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, a preparation step for the upcoming three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia. This marks Sharma’s return to competitive cricket after an absence of over four months. While named in India’s squad for the series, the captaincy has been assigned to Shubman Gill.
Upon Sharma’s departure from the park, a crowd of fans gathered, prompting Abhishek Nayar, identified as Sharma’s coach and long-time friend, to intervene. Nayar appealed to the spectators, requesting them to maintain distance and avoid pushing to ensure Sharma’s safety. Videos circulating on social media showed Nayar repeatedly asking the crowd to provide space as Sharma proceeded to his vehicle, an appeal reportedly met with cheers from those present.
