K.C. Venugopal, AICC general secretary (organisation), has asserted that differences of opinion between the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and the Communist Party of India (CPI) regarding the PM SHRI scheme highlight a decline in collective responsibility within the State Cabinet and suggest a connection with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking at a valedictory function, Venugopal alleged that the rapid execution of the agreement, which he claims compromises state interests, indicates "ulterior motives" and a "secret agenda" involving Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the BJP. He called for an investigation into the origins of the decision, questioning its adoption without the knowledge of the Cabinet, the Left Democratic Front, or the CPI(M) leadership. Additionally, Venugopal accused the LDF government of neglecting government employees' interests and prioritizing corporate forces over workers' welfare for the past nine-and-a-half years, contrasting this with the Congress's approach to labor rights.
