Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that the completion of the police investigation into the death of singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore is contingent upon the cooperation of Assamese individuals who were present on the yacht. Sarma highlighted that Assam Police face jurisdictional limitations preventing them from conducting inquiries in Singapore. He appealed to the public in Assam to encourage the Singapore-based Assamese community to facilitate the involvement of those concerned in the ongoing probe.

The Chief Minister further noted that a viscera report is expected on October 10, with its findings anticipated to clarify the circumstances surrounding Garg's death by October 11. Addressing questions about reports of poisoning claims, Sarma indicated that such matters would be explored during the course of the investigation, assuring that it would be a "completely independent commission".
