Five individuals have received prison sentences ranging from eight to 24 years following their convictions at the High Court in Glasgow. The convictions pertain to rape and other sexual offenses involving multiple women in Dundee.
Marian Cumpanasoiu, 38, Remus Stan, 35, Cristian Urlateanu, 41, Catalin Dobre, 45, and Alexandra Bugonea, 35, were found guilty of a total of 30 charges.
Mr. Cumpanasoiu was sentenced to 24 years for 10 counts of rape. Mr. Urlateanu received 20 years for six rape convictions. Mr. Stan was sentenced to 12 years for four rape convictions, and Mr. Dobre was given 10 years for two rape convictions. Ms. Bugonea received an eight-year sentence for one rape conviction and illegal sexual activity with another individual.
Evidence presented during the trial indicated that vulnerable women were offered gifts and drugs, including crack cocaine, as part of the activities. The offenses occurred across various flats in Dundee.
