Delhi experienced a significant deterioration in its Air Quality Index (AQI), reaching "severe" levels during the Diwali period, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
On Monday morning, following Diwali celebrations, specific areas reported high AQI readings, including Akshardham at 411 and near the Barapullah bridge at 352. On the eve of Diwali, the city's overall AQI worsened from 296 ("poor") at 4 pm to 306 ("very poor") by 10 pm. Additionally, 24 out of 38 monitoring stations recorded "very poor" air quality, with Anand Vihar's AQI exceeding 400, placing it in the "severe" zone.
The forecast indicates that air quality is predicted to continue deteriorating, reaching "severe" levels on Tuesday and Wednesday, the day after Diwali.
