The elections for 15 seats on the Dudhdhara dairy board in Bharuch concluded recently, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s official panel securing a majority. Voting for 14 out of 15 seats took place on Friday, with all 296 eligible voters participating, and results were declared on Saturday.
The official BJP panel, led by current chairman Ghanshyam Patel, won 10 seats, establishing a clear majority on the dairy’s board. A rival faction within the BJP, supported by Vagra MLA Arunsinh Rana, secured two seats during the election. Additionally, one member from Rana’s panel, Prakash Desai, was elected unanimously prior to the main ballot, bringing the rival faction’s total representation to three seats. Furthermore, two independent candidates, backed by Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) leader Mahesh Vasava, also secured seats.
Prior to the elections, Arunsinh Rana had voiced allegations of corruption and irregularities against party colleagues involved in dairy affairs. Ghanshyam Patel won the Nandod West seat, reportedly by a margin of two votes over Arunsinh Rana. Mahesh Vasava, despite endorsing two successful independent candidates, did not secure a seat himself.
