Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated four new Vande Bharat Express train services from Varanasi. These services are intended to enhance rail connectivity and reduce travel durations across several key corridors in India.
The newly launched routes include: Banaras–Khajuraho, aiming to connect significant cultural and pilgrimage sites; Lucknow–Saharanpur; Firozpur–Delhi, designed to improve connectivity between Delhi and major cities in Punjab; and Ernakulam–Bengaluru, establishing a faster link in the southern region.
Officials state that these services are projected to significantly reduce travel times on their respective routes. For example, the Firozpur–Delhi route is anticipated to become the fastest rail option available, and the Ernakulam–Bengaluru journey is expected to be shortened by over two hours. The initiatives are cited as measures to support regional mobility, tourism, and economic activities along the train corridors.
