Haryana IPS Officer's Post-Mortem Delayed Amid Family's Demands for FIR Revision

The post-mortem examination for Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, 52, who reportedly died by alleged suicide, has been delayed by authorities. This delay follows allegations from his family of a communication gap with Chandigarh Police regarding the shifting of the officer’s body. The family initially requested that the post-mortem be withheld until their two daughters could view the body and later demanded the arrest of the Haryana DGP and Rohtak SP.

Kumar’s wife, Amneet, a senior Haryana IAS officer, subsequently wrote to Chandigarh Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur, questioning the completeness of information in the First Information Report (FIR). She requested corrections to ensure the FIR accurately reflects the names of all accused. Police officials have confirmed that the post-mortem will not proceed without the family’s consent. In a related development, Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya was transferred days after Kumar’s death.
