The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has removed structures and compound walls that were allegedly encroaching on the Full Tank Level (FTL) of Fox Sagar lake. This action is part of an initiative to restore the water body.
HYDRAA identified and addressed a significant encroachment involving a bund constructed for nearly half a kilometre within the lake’s FTL. A compound wall demarcating a farmhouse property, along with iron fencing, was demolished as part of this operation.
Additionally, the agency demolished the compound wall of a farmhouse in Dulapally village, reportedly belonging to family members of former Minister Ch. Malla Reddy. This wall was constructed after filling portions of the FTL and buffer zones with earth, and included a gate. HYDRAA stated that this wall was removed because it was located within the notified FTL limits, affecting approximately 15 acres of land.
Further encroachments were cleared in Jeedimetla, where a compound wall spanning nearly 20 acres within the FTL limits was removed. These actions target the restoration of the lake’s natural boundaries.
