An MBBS student in West Bengal’s Pashchim Bardhaman district allegedly reported a sexual assault that occurred outside her private college campus on Friday night. According to police sources, the student, accompanied by a male friend, was reportedly dragged into a wooded area adjacent to the campus. Narayan Swaroop Nigam, Principal Health Secretary for West Bengal, confirmed the police inquiry and has requested a comprehensive report from the Director of Medical Education. Authorities are questioning college personnel and the student’s companion, concurrently examining campus security measures related to student departure times.
The student’s father expressed concerns regarding perceived inadequate campus security. The student’s mother recounted her daughter’s statement about observing individuals following them before her male friend reportedly ran toward the wooded area.
