The chief election agent for V. Sivankutty, an LDF candidate and General Education Minister, has submitted a complaint to the Election Commission of India (EC) regarding alleged irregularities in the Nemom constituency. The complaint outlines concerns about suspicious fund movements and the presence of unauthorized vehicles. It specifically details the delivery of a significant volume of parcels to BJP election offices through postal and private cargo services, which the complainant suspects may contain unaccounted cash intended for influencing voters or illegal electoral malpractice. Furthermore, the complaint points to a perceived increase in vehicles with out-of-state registration numbers operating within the constituency, which are also suspected of transporting cash and other inducements from outside Kerala.
The agent has requested the EC to initiate swift action, including immediate inspection of all parcels arriving at political party offices by flying squads and static surveillance teams, alongside intensified highway and border patrolling to intercept suspicious vehicles. This complaint precedes the 2026 Kerala Assembly polls, where V. Sivankutty (CPI(M)) is contesting in Nemom against Rajeev Chandrasekhar (BJP) and K.S. Sabarinadhan (Congress).
