A joint operation conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and the Border Security Force in Punjab led to the recovery of nearly 20 kilograms of heroin and the apprehension of four individuals. Among those apprehended was a key operative reportedly managing the drug supply chain.
Punjab Police Director General (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, that preliminary investigations suggest the primary operative has alleged links to Pakistan-based handlers and was coordinating the delivery and distribution of drug consignments. An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The investigation is ongoing to identify cross-border handlers, trace supply routes, and dismantle the broader network, according to the DGP's statement on X.
