The Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) women's wing staged a protest in Chandigarh on Saturday, directing their demonstration at the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
The protest centered on the AAP's alleged failure to fulfill a key 2022 Assembly election promise: providing a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 to women in Punjab.
Jai Inder Kaur, president of the state women's wing, accused the AAP government of "betraying" the women of Punjab and highlighted that 45 months have passed since the promise was made without any payments being disbursed.
Kaur also criticized the government's administration, alleging a decline in law and order and an increase in crimes such as snatching and assaults across the state.
