A Russian drone reportedly entered Romanian airspace over the past weekend, marking the second alleged incursion into a NATO member country’s territory within a week. Romania, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, confirmed the incident.
In response to the alleged event, the European Union’s foreign policy chief criticized the action, characterizing it as “reckless escalation.” Separately, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas also commented on the situation via social media, describing the alleged violation as an “unacceptable breach of an E.U. member state’s sovereignty” and a threat to regional security.
This occurrence follows a previous report from the preceding week, where multiple Russian drones allegedly entered Polish airspace, prompting the deployment of NATO fighter jets. These incidents collectively underscore how the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is impacting regions beyond its immediate boundaries.
