Three individuals have died following a light plane crash at Shellharbour Airport near Wollongong, New South Wales, on Saturday morning. The private aircraft, reportedly en route to Ballarat, crashed during what authorities described as a tragic incident.
Chief Inspector Aaron Wunderlich of Lake Illawarra Police District stated that an estimated 10 to 15 people, including Rural Fire Service (RFS) personnel conducting a training exercise nearby, witnessed the accident. Fire and Rescue NSW Inspector Andrew Barber confirmed that the local RFS unit responded immediately to assist.
New South Wales police have announced that counseling services will be provided to both the first responders and witnesses affected by the crash.
