Danish authorities have reported observations of unidentified drones near several airports overnight, leading to temporary operational disruptions. These incidents occurred at facilities including Aalborg Airport, which handles both commercial and military air traffic, and Billund Airport, Denmark’s second-largest. Drones were also spotted in proximity to two southern airports and an air base housing fighter jets.
Following these reports, Aalborg Airport experienced a closure lasting several hours, while Billund Airport was briefly shut down due to unverified drone activity. Officials have stated that the origin and operators of these drones remain unconfirmed. A government representative characterized the occurrences as an “effort to sow fear” within the country. These events unfold amid a period of heightened alert across Europe, following recent incursions by Russian aircraft into the airspace of Poland, Estonia, and Romania.
