Union Minister Suresh Gopi's Education Minister Remark Prompts State Minister V. Sivankutty's Response

Union Minister Suresh Gopi recently made a public statement regarding the qualifications of an education minister during his "Kalunk Sabha" outreach program in Vattavada, Idukki district. Responding to local requests for an English-medium school, Mr. Gopi commented, "Let a well-educated Education Minister come," further suggesting that General Education Minister V. Sivankutty, who frequently criticizes him, might not be expected to provide such facilities.

Mr. Gopi's remark subsequently drew a response from Mr. Sivankutty, who posted on social media. Mr. Sivankutty referred to Mr. Gopi as "Kalunk Thampuran" and stated that Kerala had not received any practical benefit from the Union Minister. He also linked "Kalunkism" as an ideology to Mr. Gopi, referencing the "Kalunk Sabha" program where Mr. Gopi conducted a meeting while seated on a culvert (Malayalam: kalunk).
