The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH-32) is preparing to introduce Computed Tomography (CT) scan and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facilities. These services are slated to operate under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Hospital administration officials state the initiative aims to provide quicker patient report delivery and separate equipment for medical student practice. According to Director Principal Prof. G. P. Thami, the hospital has experienced a substantial increase in patient numbers, with the PPP model expected to benefit both patients and students. The plan is currently in development, with the administration anticipating a collaboration with a public sector undertaking to offer tests at PGI-comparable rates. This move is part of a broader vision to gradually implement similar digital and structural facilities across all hospital departments, following a precedent set by GMSH-16’s 2023 adoption of affordable PPP-based MRI and CT scan services.
