Residents of the Prestige Falcon City apartment community on Kanakapura Road in Bengaluru have reported multiple illnesses over several weeks, with sporadic cases noted since early October. A medical team from the Bengaluru South City Corporation has been present in the community, home to over 9,000 residents, since November 12 to monitor the situation.
Concerns regarding potential water contamination were raised by residents, leading corporation officials to collect numerous water samples from various sources, including inlets, borewells, storage tanks, and taps. These samples have been submitted to the Public Health Institute for analysis, and the results are pending.
The Prestige Falcon City Residents' Welfare Association (RWA) stated that private lab tests of their water samples did not identify any anomalies. Nevertheless, the RWA has taken precautionary steps, such as clearing stored water, cleaning and disinfecting storage tanks, and temporarily halting the use of external tanker water. Corporation officials have also advised community members to consume boiled and cooled water for drinking.
