Born at just 23 weeks’ gestation with an approximate weight of 350 grams, Nova was identified by Dr. Rojo Joy, a consultant neonatologist, as having the lightest recorded birth weight in India. The infant faced severe medical challenges stemming from extreme prematurity, low weight, and potential infection risks from the mother. Following 100 days of intensive medical care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Nova recovered. Although Nova has reached one year of age, Dr. Joy indicated the baby’s current developmental stage is comparable to eight months. Parents Kevin Duro and Sujisha expressed gratitude to the hospital’s medical and nursing teams.
