The Jnanabharathi Police registered a case on September 8 against five guest lecturers from Bangalore University following a complaint filed by a 30-year-old woman colleague alleging harassment. The accused individuals, identified as Swaroop Kumar, Ramanjaneya B. K., Rangaswamy, Jagannatha K., and Shivaray, have been charged under sections 75 (sexual harassment), 79 (insulting a woman’s modesty), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace). According to the complainant, Kumar and Ramanjaneya allegedly engaged in mental harassment, which she claimed led to her job loss due to rumors and false information. The complaint further stated allegations of Kumar video-recording her for blackmail, and that upon confrontation, the accused allegedly verbally abused her, demanded sexual favors, and issued death threats if their demands were not met. Police are conducting further investigations into these allegations.
