Punjab MLA Harmit Singh Pathanmajra is currently subject to legal proceedings in connection with allegations of rape, cheating, and criminal intimidation. The case was registered on September 1 based on a complaint from a Zirakpur-based woman, who claims the MLA misrepresented his marital status, entered into a relationship, and married her in 2021 while reportedly already wedded.
Since September 2, Mr. Pathanmajra has been sought by authorities. Police efforts have included conducting raids and issuing a look-out notice, following an incident where he reportedly evaded custody while police attempted to arrest him in Haryana. A Patiala court has initiated proclaimed offender proceedings due to his failure to appear in connection with the case.
On November 7, 2025, Mr. Pathanmajra appeared in a video interview with an Australia-based Punjabi web channel. During the interview, he reportedly stated his intention to "return home only after securing bail" and denied all allegations, characterizing the case as a "political conspiracy." He is understood to have traveled to Australia.
