The Telangana Food Safety Department conducted a comprehensive statewide inspection, examining 55 pizza establishments across the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area and various districts. The inspected outlets included 18 Pizza Hut locations, 16 Domino’s Pizza locations, and 21 independent pizzerias and bakeries. These inspections revealed significant lapses in hygiene, licensing compliance, and adherence to food safety standards across multiple establishments.
Specifically, the department noted that 8 out of 18 Pizza Hut outlets and 10 out of 16 Domino’s Pizza outlets were found to be in violation of regulations. Among the local establishments, 6 out of 21 were cited for non-compliance. Reported issues at various sites included the presence of expired or missing licenses, the use of overused oil, unlabelled food items, rusty ovens, and open cooking areas that lacked adequate insect-proof barriers.
