The chief priest of the Srimukhalingam temple has raised concerns about the inadequate sanitation facilities on the temple grounds. He stated that stray dogs are frequently entering the premises, especially at night, attributing this to a lack of oversight by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
According to the priest, the historic temple, managed by the ASI, is experiencing issues with garbage accumulation and a general lack of proper sanitation and maintenance. He mentioned submitting a memorandum to the District Collector, requesting improvements as the temple attracts pilgrims from across the country.
Furthermore, the priest has also brought attention to the poor condition of a recently constructed road near the temple and the Vamsadhara river flood bank. He alleged that the Panchayat Raj Department did not follow proper procedures when laying this road and has not addressed the problem.
The priest reported that the Lokayukta has issued notices to the relevant officials, requesting an explanation regarding the damage to the new road.
