During a recent press conference, several prominent UK political figures addressed controversial remarks made by a Member of Parliament and discussed calls for a national inquiry.
Labour leader Keir Starmer condemned statements attributed to Reform UK MP Sarah Pochin – specifically, "it drives me mad when I see adverts full of black people, full of Asian people" – describing them as "racist." In response, Nigel Farage acknowledged Pochin's comments were "ugly" and "clumsy," but maintained he did not believe her intention was racist, indicating he would have suspended her whip if he had concluded otherwise.
Farage also used the platform to advocate for a rapid inquiry into what he referred to as "grooming gangs," proposing it be conducted by a parliamentary committee or commission. He asserted that the issue was "driven by racism" and characterized the establishment's response as marked by "cowardice and neglect." Additionally, Ellie-Ann Reynolds made a statement during the proceedings, characterizing the inquiry as "corrupt."
