The Mahagathbandhan, an alliance comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress in Bihar, has officially declared Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD as its chief ministerial candidate. This decision was announced during a joint press briefing by Congress leader Ashok Gehlot.
In addition to Yadav's designation, Mukesh Sahani, leader of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), was named the alliance's deputy chief ministerial face. Gehlot also stated that other names for the Deputy CM position would be considered following the elections.
The announcements followed a period of negotiations between the RJD and Congress. The Indian Express had previously reported that the Congress party's initial reluctance to endorse Yadav as the pre-election chief ministerial candidate was a key factor in the delayed finalization of a seat-sharing agreement.
