The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported the formation of a low-pressure area on November 22, originating over the Strait of Malacca and the adjoining south Andaman Sea. This system is projected to advance west-northwestwards, likely intensifying into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 24. Further intensification is anticipated over the southwest Bay of Bengal within the subsequent 48 hours. While the IMD has issued a warning, experts remain uncertain whether the system will evolve into a cyclonic storm. Concurrently, the IMD predicts isolated heavy rainfall for November 23 across regions including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Puducherry reportedly experienced mild rainfall on Sunday morning, attributed to this developing weather system.
