Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently issued a warning, suggesting India could face "massive" tariffs should it continue to acquire Russian oil.
In response, India’s Ministry of External Affairs promptly rejected these remarks, asserting that the nation’s energy policy is solely dictated by the objective of safeguarding Indian consumer interests.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal elaborated, emphasizing India's twin goals of maintaining stable energy prices and ensuring secure supplies. He highlighted the strategy of broadening energy sourcing and diversifying imports as appropriate to meet evolving market conditions.
