Gaza: Updates on Humanitarian Aid and Recovery Efforts

Recent developments in Gaza include humanitarian aid deliveries and efforts toward search and recovery operations. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) reported that approximately 2,800 tonnes of food supplies, transported by 230 trucks, entered Gaza between Saturday and Wednesday. The WFP has also initiated the distribution of nutrition supplies within Gaza City. Since the commencement of the recent ceasefire, an average of 560 tonnes of food has reportedly entered Gaza daily; however, the WFP indicates this quantity is still below the required amount.

Concurrently, a team of Turkish disaster response specialists is stationed at the Egyptian border, awaiting Israeli authorization to enter Gaza to assist in search and recovery operations, according to a Turkish official cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP). A Hamas source informed AFP that the Turkish delegation is expected to enter Gaza by Sunday. Additionally, Israel returned the bodies of 30 Palestinians to Gaza on Thursday, as reported by the territory’s health ministry.
