Troops from the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps, headquartered in Sukna, West Bengal, completed a six-day and night route march in Sikkim. This exercise involved soldiers carrying full battle loads across altitudes reaching up to 17,000 feet, traversing steep gradients, icy winds, and rugged tracks.

A Ministry of Defence statement issued on Tuesday (September 16, 2025) indicated that the march was designed to test the soldiers’ physical stamina, mental resilience, and collective spirit, replicating high-altitude battlefield conditions. The statement emphasized that while modern technology is integrated into operations, such exercises remain essential for ensuring preparedness in situations where technology might be constrained, thereby reaffirming the primacy of human endurance and adaptability.

Lieutenant General Zubin A. Minwalla, the General Officer Commanding of Trishakti Corps, stated that “the soldier’s grit and teamwork” are ultimately decisive. He further noted that the completion of the march reflects the Corps’ commitment to operational readiness and its role in safeguarding the nation’s frontiers in the Eastern Himalayas.
