The Nilgiris District Election Officer, Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, accompanied by the district’s Superintendent of Police and Forest Department officials, conducted an inspection of a designated polling station in Thengumarahada village on April 5, 2026. The team accessed the Government Tribal Residential School in Kallampalayam, which will serve as a polling station, by crossing the Bhavani River via coracle.
The review focused on assessing essential voter amenities, including the availability of drinking water, toilet facilities, electricity, and accessibility ramps for disabled individuals. Security arrangements for the upcoming State Assembly elections, scheduled for April 23, were also evaluated. Voters were encouraged to cast their votes and reminded of the requirement to present one of the twelve Election Commission-approved identity documents at the polling station.
