The Telangana Residential School, Sarvail, recently held Founding Day celebrations, during which bronze statues of two significant figures in its establishment were unveiled. The first statue honors late Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, recognized for conceptualizing the institution and, as Chief Minister, laying its foundation stone on November 23, 1971. The second statue acknowledges Maddi Narayana Reddy, who donated the land for the school's site. This institution was the initial residential school project initiated by P.V. Narasimha Rao, designed for meritorious rural students from Telangana districts, and subsequently inspired similar schools in other regions.
Chief Secretary A. Ramakrishna Rao unveiled P.V. Narasimha Rao's statue, while Munugodu MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy unveiled Maddi Narayana Reddy's statue. The event, including the sponsorship of the statues, was organized by the school's Alumni Association. Attendees included P.V. Narasimha Rao's family members, various government officials, and school alumni. Speakers at the event highlighted the founders' contributions, noting the Sarvail school's foundational role for later national educational initiatives, such as the Navodaya schools.
