Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh is favouring officials from the Thakur (Rajput) community for key government appointments, while neglecting those from the PDA (Pichde, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) social group. Yadav presented datasets to support his claims, including observations regarding police postings.
Specifically, Yadav stated that out of 27 appointments at Lakhimpur Urban Co-Operative Bank Ltd., 15 were filled by officials from the Thakur community, with eight going to PDA groups. He also pointed out that 11 of 22 posts within the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) were assigned to candidates from the Thakur community. Further concerns were voiced by a Mr. Azad, who alleged that reservation rules were disregarded, with SC/ST individuals receiving two posts and OBC individuals six.
The Uttar Pradesh Congress also weighed in, with senior leader Anil Yadav asserting that OBCs and Dalits are experiencing “oppression and injustice” under the BJP government. He claimed that officials from the Chief Minister’s social group are securing key positions in districts, while OBC and Dalit officials are neglected, suggesting that such partiality negatively impacts bureaucracy and social structure.
