Following the commencement of a full-scale assault in Gaza City last month, residents began evacuating to southern Gaza, which the Israeli military had designated as “humanitarian zones.” These zones were intended to provide essential services, including tents, food, and medical care. However, Khitam Ayyad, one individual who fled to Khan Younis, a designated humanitarian area, reported finding it severely overcrowded with limited assistance available. Ms. Ayyad described being exposed to the elements, lacking space for shelter, and encountering insufficient provisions of food and water.
