According to data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Indian domestic airlines transported 1.29 crore passengers in August 2025. This figure represents a slight year-on-year decrease compared to the 1.31 crore passengers flown in August of the previous year. However, the passenger volume in August 2025 was an increase from the 1.26 crore passengers recorded in July 2025. Cumulatively, domestic airlines carried approximately 11.07 crore passengers during the period, marking an annual growth of 4.99 percent over the 10.54 crore passengers in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Regarding market share shifts in August, IndiGo experienced a decline, moving to 64.2 percent from 65.2 percent in July. Conversely, the Air India Group, encompassing Air India and Air India Express, saw its share rise to 27.3 percent from 26.2 percent. Akasa Air's market share slightly decreased to 5.4 percent from 5.5 percent, while SpiceJet's remained stable at 2 percent. Alliance Air's share slipped to 0.3 percent from 0.4 percent, with Star Air and Fly91 maintaining their shares at 0.5 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively.

In August 2025, scheduled domestic airlines collectively registered 1,407 passenger-related complaints.
