Following recent assembly elections, several Indian states are experiencing significant political and security developments. In West Bengal, police have reported two fatalities and 433 arrests since May 4, the day of vote counting, attributed to post-poll incidents. The Chief Election Commissioner has directed authorities to immediately apprehend those involved in violence and vandalism. While the State BJP President announced the new government’s oath-taking for May 9, Trinamool Congress leaders have alleged targeted attacks by BJP workers.

Concurrently, Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar officially dissolved the 16th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, effective May 5. This action followed a meeting where Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay presented his claim to form the new government.

Meanwhile, in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his cabinet resigned, paving the way for the formation of a new BJP-led government, with the oath-taking ceremony anticipated after May 11.
