The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the INDIA bloc’s ‘public impeachment’ of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) as a ‘mockery of Parliament itself’. BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra stated that the opposition’s program lacked substance and referred to it as a ‘mock Parliament’.

Patra defended the legal provisions that offer immunity and protection to the CEC, asserting that these protections are already part of the Constitution and were not introduced by the BJP. He cited a past court order that was quashed by the high court, suggesting that such actions could be politically motivated and undermine constitutional officeholders.

Additionally, Patra accused the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, of vote theft to become Prime Minister. He also raised concerns about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, highlighting the exclusion of 13 crore voters from electoral rolls due to reasons like ‘Absent’ and ‘Shifted’ status, questioning the ‘ASDD’ formula.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah challenged Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav to discuss voter irregularities in a special parliamentary session, suggesting the opposition’s real motive was not to debate but to disrupt Parliament. Shah also pointed to recent BJP electoral victories as evidence that the opposition cannot win elections.
