Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin, alongside DMK deputy general secretary Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, recently articulated the party's perspectives on the state's political landscape and upcoming elections.
Chief Minister Stalin characterized the forthcoming Assembly election not as a contest between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, but as a confrontation between the NDA and "Tamil Nadu," asserting that the DMK truly represents and works for the state's populace. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of aiming to govern Tamil Nadu through remote control via "puppets" and stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had disseminated false information during a recent visit. Stalin also highlighted Tamil Nadu as the country's safest state, citing a private organization's report listing seven of its cities among the top 25 for women in India. Furthermore, he cautioned against "fascist forces" attempting to enter Tamil Nadu, suggesting a lack of protection for women and the state if such entities gained power.
Kanimozhi Karunanidhi echoed concerns about various forces, including internal ones, attempting to "capture" Tamil Nadu, while expressing strong confidence in the electorate's support for M.K. Stalin. She also announced the DMK government's intent to abolish the practice of the Governor reading the policy address in the Assembly, stating that the Governor's annual actions demonstrate disrespect towards the elected government and the people of Tamil Nadu.
