Following recent electoral victories, two prominent political figures, Vijay of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Tamil Nadu and Suvendu Adhikari of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal, have each won two assembly seats and are now faced with the decision of which constituency to represent.

According to party leaders, TVK chief Vijay is expected to resign from the Tiruchirappalli East seat and retain Perambur in Chennai, identified as his home constituency. Vijay secured Perambur with a margin of 53,715 votes and Tiruchirappalli East by 27,416 votes. TVK leaders have indicated the possibility of nominating former IAS officer U Sagayam for the upcoming Tiruchirappalli East by-election, aiming to bolster the party's administrative experience given that a majority of its current legislative members are first-timers.

Similarly, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari is anticipated to relinquish the Bhabinapur assembly seat in favor of retaining Nandigram, which is situated within his home district of East Medinapore. Adhikari's win in Bhabinapur notably included defeating Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee by a margin of 15,105 votes. He won Nandigram with a margin of 9,665 votes and subsequently visited the constituency to express gratitude to voters.
